The Minister paid a visit to Ho Chi Minh City Electricity Corporation and commended Survalent’s work in supporting the country’s socio-economic development.

Survalent is pleased to announce that the Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of Economic Development, International Trade and Export of Canada, visited Survalent customer EVN Ho Chi Minh City Electricity Corporation on March 28 last week. The minister was accompanied by Jasmine Wahhab, Head of the Trade Section Consul & Senior Trade Commissioner; Rob Stewart, Deputy Minister of International Trade; and a team of delegates representing 70 leading Canadian businesses. Young Ngo, CTO of Survalent, had the pleasure of welcoming the Minister and her team along with Max Woo, Survalent Regional Sales Director – Asia Pacific; Mr. Pham Quoc Bao, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Electricity (EVN) Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Luan Quoc Hung, Deputy General Director of EVNHCMC; and representatives of Survalent-certified integrator My Phuong Trading Co. Ltd.

Mr. Pham Quoc Bao highlighted the cooperation between EVNHCMC and Survalent in building and operating the utility’s second remote control center, and particularly the application of Survalent software to implement 100% automation of the medium voltage power grid – across all 872 of its feeders – in Ho Chi Minh City. As a result of this grid modernization, EVNHCMC recorded a 97.3% decrease in its System Average Interruption Frequency Index (SAIFI) index and a 97.9% decrease in its System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI) index during the period 2016–2023. According to the 2022 Singapore National Energy Group’s Smart Grid Index, EVNHCMC ranked 2nd in Southeast Asia, and EVNHCMC’s smart grid score stood equal to Toronto Hydro Power Company, Canada. Minister Ng appreciated the meaningful impact of the collaboration between Ho Chi Minh City Electricity Corporation, Survalent, and My Phuong toward driving the adoption of digital technology and renewable energy while stabilizing electricity distribution in Vietnam’s largest city, and expressed hope for continued cooperation over future projects aimed at supporting the transition to clean energy and the country’s net-zero goals.
