New ADMS Platform will Significantly Reduce Costs, Improve Usability, and Enhance Customer Support
BRAMPTON, ON — April 27, 2020 – Survalent, the most trusted provider of SCADA and advanced distribution management system (ADMS) software, today announced that Cobb Electric Membership Corporation, the second largest cooperative in Georgia, has chosen SurvalentONE ADMS as the cornerstone of their future-proofing and reliability improvement initiatives.
After maintaining their previous SCADA system for over 40 years, Cobb recognized that they needed a new platform to help them meet their goals for modernization, improving efficiency, increasing reliability, and reducing costs. Cobb also sought technology that would attract and be easy to learn for a younger workforce as their team members retired.
“It was eye-opening how much SCADA technology has changed… we really did need to look at modernization and better technology, and that’s ultimately why we ended up picking Survalent,” said Eddie Facey, Cobb’s Supervisor of Real Time Systems.
Cobb’s decision to convert to the SurvalentONE platform was the result of a detailed and highly-competitive evaluation process run by a team which included control room and administrative users familiar with the existing ADMS system. Cobb appreciated the robust monitoring and control capabilities, user-friendly interface, flexible configuration, and the ease of use for day-to-day tasks. Survalent’s reputation for strong customer support and comprehensive maintenance were equally strong factors in their conversion.
With SurvalentONE ADMS, Cobb will be able to scale their operations and add advanced functionality in the future, paving the way for smart grid initiatives. The utility projects considerable operational and support cost savings, as well as a major reduction in operational risk.
Having begun their conversion process in January 2020, Cobb will complete the configuration of more than 40 substations by the end of March 2020. Their next step is to implement SurvalentONE Fault Location, Isolation, and Service Restoration (FLISR) to enable faster restoration of outages.
“To say we’re pleased to be an integral part of Cobb’s long-term modernization and improvement plan would be an understatement,” said Steve Mueller, President and Chief Executive Officer of Survalent. “We’re excited to help Cobb deliver significant operational and technology improvements to their distribution services and their member-owner base.”
